Product Shapes

Product Shapes are used to add any custom 3D shapes into the simulation and use this as Product.

See the video tutorial on creating User Equipment as this is a similar process to importing a Product Shape.

Create a new Product Shape

  1. From Project Explorer, Right Click on Product ShapesNew
  2. In the Property Editor, click on Select Model File and select the desired model (3ds or obj)
  3. If the model is not immediately visible in the Property Panel, zoom in to locate the unit cube. The unit cube is 1x1x1m cube to help in adjusting the size and position of the imported model.
  4. Change the Scale attributes (typically 10, 100 or 0.1, 0.01 values) to scale the model to the desired size.
  5. Change the Offset/angles as desired using the unit cube as reference.
  6. Change the name

Using the new product shape

To apply the Shape to all product used in the project, use the Product Shape selection in the System properties of the project. The shape can also be changed with appropriate scripting.

Properties:

X Offset: Apply an X offset from the unit cube in the units chosen when the project was created (metres or feet).

Y Offset: Apply an Y offset from the unit cube in the units chosen when the project was created (metres or feet).

Z Offset: Apply an Z offset from the unit cube in the units chosen when the project was created (metres or feet).

Direction: Default 0. Set a direction angle in degrees for the shape

Tilt: Default 0. Set a tilt angle in degrees for the shape

Roll: Default 0. Set a roll angle in degrees for the shape

Scale X: Scale X dimension of the shape.

Scale Y: Scale Y dimension of the shape.

Scale Z: Scale Z dimension of the shape.

Texture: Press Browse to open an image selection dialogue and select a texture image to wrap around the shape. The texture should be designed for the shape but a reasonable effort is made to map simple textures.

Project default shape

The default shape is set in the System properties. See "System Properties"

Product Shapes can be selected for a Product Schedule.
